JUCo successfully conducted a Workshop for the Review of the Proposed Bachelor of Arts in East African Languages, Culture and Tourism (BAELCT - UQF Level 8) on 21 July 2026. The workshop brought together academic staff and stakeholders to review and strengthen the proposed curriculum before its implementation.
The review workshop was facilitated by Dr. Wadrine Mari, a Curriculum Expert from the Department of Education, who guided participants through the curriculum review process. During the session, participants examined the programme's structure, learning outcomes, course content, assessment methods, and alignment with national higher education standards. The discussions focused on ensuring that the programme responds to current academic, cultural, tourism, and labour market needs while maintaining high quality and relevance.
The proposed Bachelor of Arts in East African Languages, Culture and Tourism is designed to promote the study and preservation of East African languages and cultures while equipping graduates with knowledge and practical skills in cultural heritage, communication, and tourism. The programme aims to prepare professionals capable of contributing to education, cultural institutions, tourism development, research, and other sectors that promote the rich linguistic and cultural diversity of East Africa.
Participants actively contributed recommendations and constructive feedback to further enhance the curriculum. The collaborative review process demonstrated JUCo's commitment to developing innovative and quality academic programmes that meet national priorities and international standards.
